There is a soft humming in my head. A tune tumbling through the layers of idle memories trying to find the illusive embryonic first note.
I have heard it before.
The steady cadence is my northern star whilst Gaia roars once more.
Up rooted trees carve chaotic epitaphs into our living arena and the air is armed with regurgitated impurities.
An entitled rebellion no less, we have insulted our generous host.
Yet, the aria in my head remains; a welcome comfort from the raging tempest playing out beyond my door.
A lyric calms and unites the chasm between the melody and the memory. A spark ignites as a welcome muse. More words are added like kindling and before long a whole chorus has evolved from single note I could not loose but which was never mine to own.
Gaia pauses for a brief moment to catch her breath, a fool would think her tired but we are far from done here. I watch outside to see people scurrying, filing into their homely tunnels while a whisper tastes my throat.
Don’t let me go.
Somewhere in the distance I hear the rain clouds erupt and the whisper turns into a song.
